Watch: Matt Cardle premieres ‘Run For Your Life’ video

Matt Cardle proved to be a runaway hit throughout last year’s X Factor; once the show was over and he was declared winner, it was revealed that he topped the voting almost every week. His debut single, a cover of Biffy Clyro’s ‘When We Collide’, shifted by the truckload, and his future success seemed set. But having heard his second single, the Gary Barlow-penned ‘Run For Your Life‘, we’re somewhat underwhelmed. It’s certainly ticks all the boxes of a Matt n’ Gary combo – impossibly strained vocals; serious; makes a stab at being epic – but all we can hear is a tune designed to appeal to those of us who find James Blunt a bit too wild. It will surely fly to number one, but quite honestly we’d take Cher LLoyd, One Direction and Olly Murs over this. At least you can have a bit of a boogie to their recent releases.

Here’s the ‘Run For Your Life’ video:

‘Run For Your Life’ is released on October 9th, with Matt’s debut album ‘Letters’ following on October 17th.
