Bonnie Tyler, best known for ’80s hits ‘Total Eclipse of The Heart’ and Footloose contribution ‘Holding Out For a Hero’, will represent the United Kingdom with ‘Believe in Me‘ at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmo, Sweden.
While bagging Bonnie for the contest is (hopefully) a good move, the song they’ve picked is unfortunately a little unremarkable.
“I am truly honoured and delighted to be able to represent my country at Eurovision, and especially with such a fabulous song. I promise to give this everything that I’ve got for the UK!”
‘Believe In Me’ is perfectly serviceable for this event, but unless Bonnie can mobilise an army of European fan support we fear it could get lost among the rest of the entries.
The Eurovision Song Competition will take place on Saturday 18th May in Malmö, Sweden, broadcast live on BBC One & BBC One HD, with commentary by Graham Norton.
Bonnie is due to release her new album ‘Rocks and Honey’ on 6th May.
