After two gospel albums, occasional Destiny’s Child Michelle Williams decided to experiment with a more radio-friendly electro-R&B sound in 2008. Unfortunately, that album – ‘Unexpected‘ – achieved little more than inspiring other urban acts to explore poppier sounds, including former bandmate Beyonce (who recorded ‘Radio’ and ‘Sweet Dreams’ with Williams’ producer Rico Love for ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’).

After a stint in musical Chicago and appearances on Strictly Come Dancing, Michelle has been working on her fourth solo album. Check out a new track called ‘If You Wanna Know‘, which is said to have been produced by Stargate. It’s a bit wishy-washy for our liking, so let’s hope she has some more exciting material up her sleeve.

I liked it the first time when it was called ‘What Love Is’ by Mary J. Blige.

The song is OLD. Michelle tweeted that it isn’t new at all. It is most likely from 2006 – recorded in the sessions for the first sketch of Unexpected (which was very-R&B).

I think it’s a nice song, but her new album won’t be like this. It will continue in the same style as Unexpected
